Dr. Helliwell has incorporated advancements in the area of minimally invasive cosmetic surgery into the breast implant procedure. Dr. Helliwell’s procedure is performed under local or tumescent anesthesia as performed in liposculpture surgery. You will be given oral medication to relax you. A small incision is then made in the fold under the breast and a pocket is created under the chest muscle. The placement under the muscle gives a very natural appearance and greatly lessens the possibility of a hardened capsule around the implant and eliminates rippling. Since you are awake, you are placed in a sitting position where you are part of the team to determine a satisfactory appearance and size. Fifteen minutes after the procedure is completed, you will be able to walk out of the office. However, we do require someone to drive you home. That person must also be available to remain in the office during the procedure. In addition, you will be required to visit our office for follow up appointments to monitor your progress and healing.

I have fibriods (sp?) in my breasts. Can the larger more uncomfortable ones be removed during augmentation surgery? Does it make recovery more painful? Do they grow back?
Thank you
Yes they can be removed but we would want to biopsy them first the make sure they are not cancer
